Luke gazed into Gabby’s eyes, she really was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

Her eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue, much darker than his pale blue eyes and her hair was a rich chocolate brown which contrasted his pure blonde hair. She was perfect and the only way to describe their relationship was like a puzzle. They were two pieces that fit together, when he was with her he felt whole and if they were apart a part of him was missing.

He had come to realise that life itself was nothing but one big puzzle and everyone had their own with their own unique pieces to fit in them.

His family was a part of his personal puzzle. He loved his family and was also lucky to be surrounded by them. Most of his class mates came from broken homes and they were missing a part of their puzzles that they could never get back. Like Susannah, her father walked out on them and now she was left with a void that she would try to fill with various men but none would ever fit in the hole where her father used to be.

Schooling was also another part of his puzzle. Not only did it help him fill up his knowledge gaps but it was a piece that helped to form together his career. He studied day and night to get into university then hopefully into medical school.

Approaching graduation Luke felt extremely lucky to have all the pieces falling into place little did he know that by the end of the year his world would be shattered and the pieces which seemed to fit so perfectly would fall apart. He didn’t know if it began with Paul but it sure did seem that way.

His brother was mean and Luke had a feeling he was evil. Every day he picked on Anna, telling her she was adopted or that nobody loved her. One time he even convinced her that she was an alien from out of space and our parents were ordered to take care of her.

She was the baby of the family and Paul despised how everyone doted on cute little Anna. Of course Luke would rock her to sleep and tell her that it was all false but she was beginning to become real emotional and it angered Luke to his core.

This wasn’t the major problem though, the thing that got his parents fighting was Paul’s involvement with the mafia.

Paul had been spending day and night exercising or down at the hangout which was of course a bar. His mother was against it and his father was for it of course. Paul was his father’s prodigy and Luke was happy that Paul was joining. It got his father off his back and honestly Paul suited that kind of work anyway, it’s not like he was book smart like he was.

His mother was tired of fighting with his father and she was getting older and Luke could see that she was losing the strength to fight with him. Mike began spending all his time away from home and Paul was usually with him so it was just Shannon, Jamie and Anna at home with him.

Their home had begun to feel empty and Luke could feel the first pieces of his puzzle beginning to wiggle. He would never have thought that the first break would be in the form of a vixen. A vixen named Carrie.
