Chapter 8.07

Louise spent her pregnancy down at A Slice of Heaven. Garret had finished most of the renovations to the resort so he was available throughout the day to spoil her.

He had added some suites.

And a second floor above the reception.

One thing Louise loved to do now that she was pregnant was eat.

She craved sweet foods mostly and the resort was the perfect place to cater for her sweet tooth.

Being at the resort everyday, Louise had made a new best friend in Jonathon the receptionist. They would spend most days gossiping and giggling.

With her due date coming up quickly the pair would often make little bets as to when she would go into labor. Jonathon thought it would happen next week and Louise felt it would be a lot sooner.

It turned out that Louise knew best and two days later while enjoying lunch her waters broke.

Unfortunately they weren’t on the main Island and the journey to the hospital took all afternoon.

By the time they got to the hospital, the couple were exhausted. After travelling through six hours of labor, they only spent one more hour in the hospital before their little baby was born at 7:11 pm.

Mabel Ashfield was a healthy and happy baby, who made their parents proud every minute of the day.

Tygah was a little jealous of her and competed with her for Louise’s attention. Louise made sure to not leave Tygah out and would play with him too.

Garret was a hands on dad and he would bring Mabel to work with him which she absolutely loved.

She loved the outdoors and the heat which meant she would cry when Garret placed her in the newly built day-care.

Garret loved his new life and his new family. Mabel was everything he could have ever dreamed of and more.

The highlight of his day was sitting down and enjoying dinner with his family. It was at this time that he felt whole and not only understood but experienced why his siblings wanted to spend the rest of their lives with one person.

Garret also felt very lucky to experience Mabel’s first steps.

Louise and Mabel spent everyday at the resort, seeing as Mabel loved it so much.

Although now that she knew how to walk she would always run off towards the ocean.

Having his family so close to him enabled Garret to finish off the last of the renovations to the resort.

Upstairs was turned into a day-care and a gym.

He upgraded the kitchen, restrooms and reception

And he finished the outdoor buffet and upgraded the towers.

A few years later Josh and Kimora came to stay for a few days. Like they had done with Landon, Walker and Savannah, they offered to babysit while Garret and Louise could have a night away on their own to unwind and recharge.

At first they didn’t know what to do. They spent their first couple of hours sipping cocktails and sitting in the sun.

By the evening they were relaxed and having fun. Garret knew in his heart that he wasn’t going anywhere and he wanted to become a family officially. He tiptoed around the subject but Louise wasn’t having any of it and she brushed the idea aside.

Determined to get the answer he desired, Garret followed the subject into their room.

“Marry me,” he whispered in her ear.

“Garret please,’ Louise managed before Garret stopped her by kissing her lips.

“I love you Louise and I want to marry you. Marry me,” he whispered once more.

Louise was overwhelmed with emotion and with the help of some of the cocktails they shared she replied, “Yes.”

Wedding plans would have to wait because not long their night away Louise found out that she was pregnant again.

“Are you excited to be a big sister?” Garret asked Mabel.

“Yes daddy,” she replied

Louise knew that her daughter would be great with her little sister. She had already named her Little Missy and would kiss her belly to give her sister love.

Louise’s second pregnancy was definitely different from her first. She wasn’t really allowed to leave the house in her third trimester. Not by doctors orders but by Garret’s. He didn’t want what happened with the last pregnancy in terms of travelling time to the hospital to happen again.
