Shannon was a traditional woman and Michael knew that to win her hand he had to ask for it from her father.
Joel Vidal was the local mafia boss and Michael was nervous as all hell.
“You wish to marry my Shannon? How do you intend on providing for her?” Sean asked with a straight face.
“Sir I have just been hired by the local design company and one day I hope to have my own business and as you know my Family are the Ashfield’s so I come from a long line of wealth.”
“Ahh a business man. I see you aspire to be somebody and that is the kind of husband I would want my daughter to marry,” Sean rejoiced taking his new son into his arms for a hug.
Mike took Shannon to his family’s resort for a weekend away.
He thought about popping the question during dinner but his nerves got the best of him.
After that he didn’t know if he could ever have the guts to be the guys he watched in romantic films who dropped to one knee at the drop of a hat.
Just as he was about to give up hope and hang his head in shame, he looked at Shannon who was embraced in his arms and he dropped.
“Shannon will you marry me and make me the happiest man on the island?”
“Oh my goodness yes,” she cried.
After calling her mother to tell her the news the happy newly engaged couple went to bed and watched movies. Shannon was going to wait until her wedding night before she woohooed which was fine by Michael, he loved her and respected her choice.
Just like his older sister Mabel, Mike wasted no time in getting married the difference though was that he and Shannon were to wed on the beach at the family resort.
They enjoyed their honeymoon night in the same room where Michael proposed.
And like so many romantic movies Mike had seen they also conceived their first child on this night.
He was ecstatic to be having a child and he knew more than ever that he had to protect and provide for his family for the rest of his life.
He pampered Shannon during her entire pregnancy and whatever she needed he was there for her. Michael would even leave work if Shannon called and said she was having a bad day just so he could massage her and make it all better.
It wasn’t long until little John was born. Michael loved his son more than he could have ever imagined. He knew it was great that his parents see some grandchildren before they passed on.
Louise loved her family and loved watching it grow, John was a delight to have around the house and it reminded her of how noisy the place could be again.
Missy came around to pay a visit to her new nephew and to spend some quality time with her parents.
She was happy for her little brother but she did not have a boyfriend or plan on even settling down soon. Louise knew Missy didn’t have commitment issues but she couldn’t help but wonder whether her daughter had inherited Garret’s fear of commitment but just didn’t know it. She had many boyfriends but they just didn’t seem to last too long.
To keep the catching up going Louise and Garret met up with Mabel at the autumn festival.
It had been an eventful year for the family and the announcement of Shannon’s second pregnancy was the perfect way to end it.
